All applications are judged by the Advisory Board, which is made up of three registered teachers, one Unisys executive and one external consultant.

Terry Shubkin - Unisys New Zealand

Terry Shubkin carries responsibility for Account Management and Service Delivery Management and is a key member of the Unisys New Zealand Senior Management Team.

Based in Wellington, Terry leads a team responsible for some of Unisys largest and most high profile clients in the public sector as well as in the finance, commercial, and telecommunications industries.

Terry is an active member of the industry organisation Women In IT and is a popular speaker at industry events. An American by birth, Terry holds a BSc in Engineering and MBA from Washington University in St Louis, Missouri.

Joanne Hewitt

Joanne is the Deputy Principal at a North Shore primary school, which is a base school for Massey University’s Graduate Teacher Training Programme. Through this relationship Joanne plays an active role in the training of the teachers of tomorrow around New Zealand, as the school also assists other teacher training providers throughout the country.

On top of these responsibilities, Joanne has enjoyed over 30 years involvement with badminton including coaching and administration both locally and nationally. She received the Badminton New Zealand Administrators Award in 2003 and the Badminton New Zealand Outstanding Contribution to Badminton Award in 2005

Lyn Potter

Lyn is a primary-trained teacher who now runs the Art Department at an independent co-ed high school. Throughout her career she has involved her students in a wide variety of global projects to help them connect with the wider world and build their sense of global citizenship. Lyn has undertaken projects with schools in Tonga, Korea, India, Japan, and most recently post-tsunami Sri Lanka. She finds IT plays an integral part in developing and sustaining these connections.

Lyn was a New Zealand Sciences, Mathematics and Technology appointed Teacher Fellow for 2007, a fellowship administered by the Royal Society of New Zealand.

Deborah Rattray

Deborah Rattray currently holds regional responsibilities as an In-School Facilitator for the Professional Development Programme In Languages (years 7-10) for the University of Auckland.

Deborah is an experienced primary-trained teacher who has taught young adolescents in both state and independent schools. She has been involved in many areas of New Zealand curriculum development, including physical education and health, social studies, languages and reading, as well as the development of gifted and talented children.

In 1995 Deborah led the successful New Zealand team of students to the Future Problem Solving Championships in Rhode Island, USA.
